Dinh Norodom thời Pháp thuộc, Sài Gòn tháng 07 năm 1948. Viên đá đầu tiên khởi công xây dựng Dinh Thống đốc Nam Kỳ mới tại Sài Gòn đã được ông Thống đốc Nam Kỳ Lagrandière làm lễ đặt vào ngày 23 tháng 2 năm 1868. Dinh mới được xây dựng theo đồ án do kiến trúc sư Hermite phác thảo. Do chiến tranh Pháp-Phổ 1870 nên công trình này kéo dài đến 1873 mới xong. Sau khi công trình chấm dứt thì dinh được đổi lấy tên là dinh Norodom (tên của Quốc vương Campuchia). Từ 1871 đến 1887, dinh được dành cho Thống đốc Nam kỳ (Gouverneur de la Cochinchine), từ 1887 đến 1945, dinh trở thành nơi ở và làm việc của các Toàn quyền Đông Dương (Gouverneur-général de l’Indochine Française) và từ sau 1955, trởi thành Dinh Độc Lập.

Oeuvre de l’architecte Hermitte, sa construction a été ordonnée par le Gouverneur Lagrandière en 1868 – il sera terminé en 1873 – pour remplacer l’ancien palais en bois. Le Palais fut utilisé comme bureau du Gouverneur de l’Indochine, puis le Gouverneur-Général de l’Indochine française.
Il deviendra le Palais de l’Indépendance en 1955.
The Norodom Palace at the time of French colonization (Saigon, July 1948). Designed by French architect Hermitte, it was ordered by the Governor Lagrandière in 1868 – will be finished in 1873 – to replace the wooden Palace. The Palace was used as the office of the Governor of Indochina, then by the Governors General of French Indochina. Il will become the Independence Palace in 1955.
